Why a robust learning and education plan matters

A robust learning and education plan ensures learning is purposeful, consistent, and aligned to real needs. It helps build the right skills and knowledge across the workforce, supporting individuals to perform confidently and services to adapt and improve.

By setting clear priorities and learning pathways, it makes best use of time and resources, supports quality and safety, and helps demonstrate the impact of education on practice and outcomes. Further guidance on assessing and developing the skills of your workforce can be found within national educational resources, which provide structured tools to identify current learning needs and plan educational requirements of AHP teams, Advanced Practice and Trainee roles

How to use the learning & education section

Step 1 – Watch the video to learn about conducting and Educational Needs Analysis and how to apply this to your work. (https://vimeo.com/nhseducationforscotland/tr09webinar3. 33:53 - 38:03)

Step 2 – To begin, consider the skills your workforce has today and how we develop them to meet the needs of tomorrow. To do this look at your current workforce education baseline and map requirement against future population and service needs.
