How the Code can be used
This Code applies to all staff who are not statutorily regulated and who work in NHS health services in Scotland, regardless of role or setting. The Code is an important part of Scotland’s promise to have a workforce that is trusted, skilled, and confident. It helps make sure care is safe, effective, and compassionate every day.
The examples below show different areas and settings where people who come under the umbrella term Support Worker may work and need to follow the Code of Practice. This is not a full list, but it gives guidance to help you think about how your own role and responsibilities fit with the Code.
If you are unsure whether the Code applies to your role, speak with your manager and check your job description. This will help clarify what is expected and give reassurance about your responsibilities.
